Choice by audience vote apparently an ‘non performing singer’ Chandan Sinha won the crown of the Singer of the Decade.

The nomination was made by Oikko Channel I Music Awards -2022 and Sinha got the highest vote online.

The prize was handed over to him on October 18. The award ceremony was scheduled in conjunction with the 59th Birthday of Sheikh Russel and the gala musical program was held at Seikh Russel Cantonment near Padma bridge.

Chief guest of the program was Army Chief General S  M Shafiuddin Ahmef. Channel I Managing Director Fardidur Reza Sagor also spoke on this occasion.

A four hour long gala program was decorated by the performence of Runa Laila, Sabina Yesmin, Kumar Bishwajit, Manam Ahmed, Sinthi Saha and others.

In the ceremony lifetime achievement was awarded to Rezwana Chowdhury Banya and last decades best singer award for play back song to Chanda Sinha for his ‘ Ami Nissho hoye jabo..’ a song from Purno Doirgho Prem Kahini. The lyricist Kabir Bakul and composer Koushik also awarded as best of the decade. The same song was won National award in 2013.

Chandan Sinha is very rarely found performed in stage or regular television music shows. Very choosy for content, Chandan Sinha perform occasionally by choice not by any compulsion. That makes him different.

During pandemic he lead a special song with 5 outher fellow singer from dui Bangla. In the name of ‘ Sahosher Gan’ singer from Bangladesh was Kumar Bishwajit, Tapan Chowdhury, Chandan Sinha and singers from West Bengal are Usha Utthup, Raghob Chatterji and Joy Sarker join together. The song was acclaimed widely in both Bengal.

Chandan Sinha was raised from a very aristocratic family of Rawjan of Chottogram. His family is renowned for business and social work. His grand father Natun Chandra Sinha was killed by Pakistani occupation army in 1971. Natun Chandra Sinha  was awarded highest National award’Swadhonata Padak’.

At  young age Chandan Sinha flew from home to Mumbai ( then Bombay) to build his career as playback singer and failed , then he back home. He drew the attention of Renowned actor, playwright Abdullah Al Mamun. Mamun- a talent hunter- use the voice of Chandan Sinha for first tv serial in Bangladesh Television, BTV, Shirsho Bindu. Following Chandan put his  voice to opening song of tv drama ‘Joar-Bhata’. Several album was produced. But Chandan was not a regular face in multimedia but he was remain there.

To answer a question Chandan said: I do not do anything under any plan. When My welwishers proposes anything to me and if I get supports from my heart than I try my best to make it excellent. That is how I got National award and after 10 years peoples voted for same song,  meaning peoples alway kept the best content in their hearts. He believes not only singer but excellent lyrics and best compose is the life line for a song.

Keep live a song for 10 years is very tough but Chandan made it. He may not in regular shows but he is in the hearts of millions, no doubt it is a big achievement.

Chandan sing a new song for the recently released Film Ridita. The song ‘ Thikana biheen ..’ already hit the hearts of millions. Wish,  this might bring new crown for Chandan Sinha – the Singer of the Decade.
